Brazilian Researchers Create Method to Make Artificial Intelligence More Accessible
A group of Brazilian researchers has developed an innovative technique to make the development and auditing of Large Language Models (LLMs), such as GPT and Llama, significantly more accessible and efficient.
The study focuses on Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI). Currently, understanding how an AI makes decisions requires immense computational power and high costs, limiting this research to major tech corporations. The new Brazilian method drastically lowers these barriers to entry.
Efficiency and Sustainability
According to Danilo Carvalho, one of the researchers involved, the technique allows universities, startups, and smaller teams to investigate the internal workings of AI models at reduced costs. In addition to democratizing access, the method also reduces environmental impact by requiring less data processing and energy.
Critical Applications
The research aims to make AI systems more predictable and secure. This is essential for applying the technology in sensitive areas such as healthcare and finance, where transparency regarding how a response was generated is as important as the response itself.
