Company launches AI humanoid robot controlled with natural language

Mentee Robotics, an Israeli startup founded in 2022, announced MenteeBot, a personalized humanoid robot with artificial intelligence technology capable of performing tasks “with the same balance and control of a human”, according to the company. The models can be controlled with natural language and, curiously, most of them have no head.

Understand:

  • The startup Mentee Robotics announced a humanoid robot with AI technology that can perform household chores and is controlled with natural language;
  • The company states that, unlike other models available on the market, MenteeBot is not linked to limited commands and has software to unlock “advanced training techniques”;
  • The robot will be available in two models: residential – for domestic tasks – and commercial – for manual work;
  • Information about MenteeBot’s price or release date has not yet been disclosed.

Humanoid robots are nothing new. Honda, for example, presented the Asimo model in October 2000 – which was discontinued in 2018 -, and even Tesla has been working on the so-called Optimus. However, Mentee states that there is a big difference between its robot and the other models seen on the market, since MenteeBot “is not linked to a limited set of commands” and has software that unlocks “advanced training techniques”, and can even maintain conversations with humans.

With two arms and two legs, MenteeBot can, the company promises, be trained to perform many of the tasks that human beings perform daily. The company says we can train you to do these things – similar to what we saw with the Rabbit R1 – by running a simulated version of the robot with a digital version of the task that must be learned. The software will then perform the task repeatedly until it dominates it, and the robot will be able to complete it in the real world.

According to the startup, MenteeBot will be available in two versions: the residential bot, aimed at performing domestic tasks, and the commercial bot, for manual work. Mentee Robotics has not yet announced any price or date for the robot to reach the market.
